I have been a type 1 diabetic since I was about 7 years old. Diabetes has had a huge effect on my life and my work.

After 23 years of multiple daily injections, I started using an insulin pump in the spring of 2010. Although the system is less than perfect, overall, I am pleased with the results. The hardware, the pump itself looks a bit like an oversized pager, and works remarkably well. The software, however, is relatively simple and stable, but poorly designed. I use a Minimed Paradigm Revel with continuous glucose monitoring, that I have turned on about half of the time.

My first official A1C reading, since starting the pump was a 7.5

Although far from perfect, it is certainly a step in the right direction.
